Regional Fiber Operations Manager (Johannesburg or Durban)

  • Johannesburg, South Africa
  • Full-Time
  • Hybrid
  • 60,000-80,000 ZAR / Month

Job Description:

Regional Fiber Operations Manager | Johannesburg or Durban

Salary: R60,000 – R80,000 CTC per month + Performance Bonuses

If you prefer wearing steel-cap boots and a high-vis vest over sitting in an office, this role is built for you. We are hiring a field-first leader to take charge of regional fiber operations, civils, and splicing execution across Gauteng or KwaZulu-Natal.

What is in it for you:

  • Field Autonomy: No reporting to a central depot every morning. You manage your schedule and dispatch directly into the field where the work happens.
  • Full Travel Reimbursement: Every kilometer you drive for network audits, site inspections, and emergency fault restorations is fully reimbursed.
  • Direct Financial Upside: A solid base salary of R60k to R80k CTC, complemented by performance bonuses tied directly to your operational output and network performance.
  • Direct Operational Authority: You stand directly between engineering and execution, giving you immediate authority on-site during fiber cuts, contractor missteps, and critical builds.

What you will actually be doing:

  • Leading internal technicians, site supervisors, and external civils and splicing contractors across your assigned region.
  • Conducting on-site physical audits, validating OTDR and iOLM test results, verifying light levels, and checking installation quality.
  • Taking charge on-site during major cable strikes and network outages to coordinate rapid splicing and civil repairs.
  • Enforcing site safety, municipal wayleave conditions, and proper equipment calibration across all active job sites.

What you need to bring:

  • 5+ years of practical FTTH or FTTB fiber operations experience, including splicing, optical loss budgets, and civil infrastructure oversight.
  • A proven track record of managing civil and fiber subcontractors directly on active job sites.
  • Valid South African driver's license and a willingness to travel your regional footprint daily.
